American History - Alternate facts?

Good morning Democrats!

So, our Governor is now a history teacher? I think he learned his “version” of Black history at the monthly KKK meetings!

WAKE UP PEOPLE!

Dumbing down education is a calculated effort to dumb down voters, they are easier to control if they are ignorant of the truth and how our government is supposed to work. A true telling of our history would go a long way to healing the rifts and dispelling unfounded “fears” being stoked by the GOP “culture warriors”.

WAKE UP AMERICA!

Our Meetings this month have been really interesting. Last Weds we had input from three Keys attorneys on the Circuit Court issue and all three agreed it was not a good idea for Monroe County. I agree. It really looks like the Governor wants fewer Circuits so he will have more control over the state’s Attorneys. If you would like more info on this, I can email you some documents and the names of the committee members who will make a recommendation to the Florida legislature. Rep Mooney has already indicated he is against it. We need to reinforce our opinion with him as well as with Sen. Rodriguez. E-mail me if you would like this info.

Special thanks to our Guest Speakers – Donald Barrett, Jason Smith, and Joe Miklas.

The next issue we need to learn about is the County’s desire to change Monroe to a
Charter County. We have some volunteers looking into the pros and cons and they will meet soon to put together a presentation for us. (One of the members is on vacation) If you have any experience with Florida Charter Counties and would like to be a part of this, let me know. The one thing I know for sure is why they want to do this – To raise a tax to fund a County Transportation Dept. The state will not let them add the tax.

Remember this – question everything.

By attending local Govt. Meetings and even making the trek to Tallahassee, we have learned just how much they really do not want us to see “how the sausage is made.” But we owe it to ourselves and our communities to become more involved in watching, questioning, and going public with our findings.
We cannot assume that who we voted for will always vote our way. But they work for us. If we are not giving them direction, we might not like the outcomes, or understand why things work out the way they do. We have made a difference and we need to keep at it!
